Greetings, fellow readers and authors. My name is Lee Carver, and I’m pleased to meet you via Christina Sinisi’s blog. After living in Brazil for twelve years, half of that as a missionary in the Amazon, the urge to tell stories overwhelmed me. Missionaries are often depicted in movies as narrow-minded and straight-laced, but they’re real people with the daily challenges of their families and faith, hard work and happy moments. Feeling directed by God to write Flying for Jesus, the story of my husband Darrel’s service as a missionary pilot, I next wrote four novels based in Brazil with romantic threads. I was hooked. The following novels are set in our beloved USA: one in Atlanta, and the rest in the Fort Worth area, where we now live. Helping others publish, I served as editor, formatter, and indie uploader to Kindle until recently, when my own novels weren’t getting written.

Darrel and I moved from Brazil to Fort Worth in 2006 to care for his parents, whom we ushered to the gates of heaven. We remain here and find new ways to fail at retirement, joyously involved with our family and the best church we’ve ever worshipped and studied in. We have a son and daughter and five young adult grandchildren, but only the daughter lives nearby.

My most recent novel, published by Cynthia Hickey’s Winged Publications in July, 2024, is one of two historicals. Its composition was interrupted by life-saving pancreatic surgery after the discovery of a developing cancer. I’d love to tell you about the miracles which stopped that process before it became deadly. If you’re interested, leave me a comment below. Meanwhile, here’s the cover and back cover blurb of Rose by Another Name:

A Depression-era newspaper typesetter secretly creates the character she would like to be and dares to hope for the life she may have missed.

Rose Coughlin, injured in the wreck that killed her father, hides secrets from everyone. As the Depression deepens, she covertly submits optimistic articles as Lorraine Summerhill, the most exciting woman she can imagine. Astounded by their success, she awakens to the possibility of walking and thinking like the persona of her pen name. Meanwhile, she fears she will lose the income that supports her and her mother, Alice Coughlin, if the editor-in-chief discovers he’s paying his uneducated niece to write articles. But her ultimate ambition is much simpler—to leave the newspaper basement for a home and family. Alice lives in the shroud of her widowhood until Rose encourages her to get out and have a life! Her accounting abilities lead her to discover embezzlement in her friend’s business, earning his gratitude but risking danger from the thief.

Dan Martin has rarely dated since his choice of veterinary medicine triggered rejection by his sweetheart. He’s now hoping to move out of his parents’ home and find a level-headed woman who will be his partner through his coarse career, long hours, and night calls. How will he fit together the pieces of his calling and his personal life?
