Hi. I’m Linda Wood Rondeau, aka L. W. Rondeau. I have lived in Hagerstown, Maryland for the last eight years, previously in Florida for six, and near the Adirondacks in Northern New York for thirty years. Not surprisingly, most of my fiction books are set in the beautiful mountains. I have heard folks say who have moved from the Rockies that the Adirondacks make them feel at home. People often ask why I would want to move to Maryland from the warm climate in Northern Florida. Simple. Eight of our nine grandchildren are here!
I used to be a blonde, well until the last two years. I let my hair go gray. One day I kept encountering this verse:
Now whenever I look in the mirror, I remember God’s ever-present help. I am thinking just now, I should update my author photo to fully appreciate God’s promise.
ABOUT GLICK: MY FAVORITE ALIEN
GLICK: My Favorite Alien is a science fiction novel that blends humor, adventure, and heartwarming moments. The story follows the extraordinary friendship between a young human and an alien named GLICK—so named for his occupation, A Gather of Lore and Intergalactic Knowledge. In other words, a cosmic librarian.

GLICK becomes stranded after helping Jeremy, a twelve-year-old orphan, ward off a bully. Jeremy and his two friends join forces in helping GLICK to get back home. Despite his advanced intellect, GLICK is a klutz causing challenges for the children trying to help him.
GLICK: My Favorite Alien is also a story about the power of friendship and acceptance and is a delightful and thought-provoking novel that offers a perfect blend of adventure, humor, and heart.
ABOUT WRITING GLICK
This book was a fulfillment of a twenty-two-year promise to my then-six-year-old grandson. I was new at writing and asked him about what I should write. “Gotta be an alien,” Grandma. So I set out to write the story. Not so easy. At first, I tried to write from two points of view … Jeremy’s and GLICK’S. The problem was that GLICK’s voice was not authentic without making him sound like Data from Star Trek. Then I ran into the problem of describing GLICK. Initially, GLICK resembled the alien from ET too much. I think as writers these things get stuck in our brain, and we tend to parrot these thoughts unconsciously. The book was under contract but eventually, the publisher and I agreed to withdraw the project. I agreed with the decision and put the manuscript aside for a long time.
One day it hit me. This should be Jeremy’s story … how his connection to GLICK transformed him. Story arcs are about character transformation. And so, I wrote the story from the first-person point of view as the twelve-year-old Jeremy. It clicked. Rather than finding a new publisher, I opted to market it independently to honor my promise.
GLICK counsels Jeremy that the best way to deal with an enemy is to be their friend.
Most kids do not have a friend like GLICK to help them deal with a bully. How would you counsel a middle schooler who is being bullied?
