Dear readers, I hope everyone is back from Christmas break! I miss hearing from some of y'all! January is a tough month but spring is coming! Now, please join me in welcoming this week's guest who is sharing about her debut novel!

Please introduce yourself, and welcome!

Hello, y’all. My name is Taylor S. Newport. I am an action thriller author. I travel the States with my family of eight—five people and three animals. Most people probably notice that I am very eager to learn new things.

My debut novel, Line of Fire, is an action thriller about a soldier for hire fighting a mysterious organization and finding an unexpected ally in one of its members while trying to protect a revolutionary narcotic.

Here is the back cover blurb:

The enemy is relentless, but they made one fatal mistake: they underestimated him.

Australian mercenary Tyler Reid, known as "The Ghost of OZ," has a talent for evading detection, a skill that has caught the eye of multiple government agencies. When a shadowy group targets a CIA asset and her revolutionary drug ND1, the Deputy Director calls in Tyler. Eager for action, Tyler takes the job. He soon realizes that the enemy is not only after the drug, but also out for his blood. Then the mission goes south, and he is forced to seek an unlikely ally.

For covert foreign operative Alexandra Romanova, freedom is a distant dream. Escaping one prison only led her to a more dangerous one. Her deadly skills are at her boss's disposal, but she’ll use them only to escape. Her final chance hinges on retrieving ND1, but the elusive Ghost of Oz complicates things. Tyler Reid isn’t an easy mark, and the better she gets to know him, the more she questions the mission she's tasked with. Soon she faces a dire choice: kill a man she is convinced is good, or pay with her own life.

As Tyler and Alex venture beyond their orders, the line between enemy and ally blurs. On the edge of failure, trust becomes a dangerous gamble with every decision dragging them deeper into the line of fire. As enemies close in and alliances shift, they are ensnared in a ruthless battle where survival depends on split-second choices. In this high-stakes fight, time is running out, and the margin for error is zero.

THE EXCERPT

“You-you shot them…” Tears trickled down Doctor Orlova’s cheeks. In shock.

Unfortunately there wasn’t enough time for Tyler to wait for her to calm down. “We’re gonna get out of here. Just stay with me.”

She nodded.

Tyler took a step and shot the lock off the refrigerator. He dragged the door open and snatched up a bottle of pills. Tossed it to her. “C’mon, we need to move.” He led her out of the room, keeping his Glock ready and her behind him.

Oil covered part of the floor. Flames licked at it. The heat raged. Smoked filled the area. Tyler

tossed the bottles into the fire and shoved Orlova towards the end of the hall.

“Go!” he choked out.

She ran to the end of the hall. He followed her. Bullets thudded into the wall just inches from his head. He turned and slipped behind the wall. Peered around the edge. Three men stood at the other side of the hall near the elevator, shooting at him. Bullets chipped away the corner of the wall. Tyler returned fire. Two guys collapsed into the flames. The slide on Tyler’s Glock locked back.

Out of bullets.

The series, Dauntless Defenders, is about people from various backgrounds helping others. What is your best memory of someone making an effort (big or small) to help you?

Although there have been countless times that I have received help, one time really stands out. When I was twelve, my family and I were out driving around in the country. Our truck got stuck in a muddy ditch. We couldn’t get it out. Luckily we had another vehicle at home to pull it out, but we had a nearly four mile walk back. In the rain. So we started the trek. We walked along the road and were passed by three or four cars. None stopped.

I started to pray to God. I prayed that He would send someone to help us. I believed He wouldn’t make us walk those four miles. Another car passed. Didn’t even slow. It bothered me that no one had the decency to stop for a family walking in the rain. But I hadn’t given up. I knew God would send someone. And He did.

A truck finally stopped beside us. An older gentleman asked if we needed help. We told him what happened and he gave us a lift to his house where we met his wife. The man then took my dad and his truck and went to get our vehicle out of the mud. While we waited we talked to the wife. She even offered us some of the brownies she’d just made. Not too long later, we got our truck back. We talked with the couple and then went on our way. I will forever be grateful to them, and God for sending them. I will never forget them.

No matter how dark the world gets, there will always be good people in it. It is always encouraging to remember those people. I look forward to reading your stories below.

Sadly I'm a bullying survivor and sexual assault survivor so being talked down to and told I couldn't do something then God stepped in so to speak and helped me by letting me hear Maya Angelou speak which her words Never Give Up on Your Dreams gave me motivation and the fact to finish my second college degree made me feel like I had achieved something I have an Associate Degree in Elementary Education and a Bachelor's Degree in Sociology now God has shown me I have the talent to write books even if it is to get rid of stress and I am unpublished but God still helps me take one day at a time because the hurt is…

Crystal, God bless you. I'm so sorry to hear what happened to you. I am praying that some day maybe you can see those terrible times as a drop in the sand compared to eternity. I'm praying for your healing, Christina
