He is Risen indeed.
He Lives!
And because He lives, we are set free. Have you ever thought about what this kind of freedom means? To me, it means that, knowing I will fail, knowing I will hurt others and make mistakes, yet I still feel a sense of peace that borders on joy with the assurance I'll be okay.
In fact, I'll be better than okay! You and I, as believers, get to be perfected in heaven.
Last year, in one of my classes, I gave students an assignment--always optional since I know not every student is a believer. The assignment was to imagine (inspired by the song) what would happen when you finally get to meet Jesus. Would you fall to your knees or in awe of him be still? Students wrote some beautiful answers...they would run to him and hug him for all they're worth, fall at his feet, sobbing. Maybe they wouldn't know until the time comes.
For some time, I pictured myself hanging back in the crowd. Not false humility, just happy to be there. But, at some point, in this year, maybe at church listening to the Parable of the Prodigal Son, my picture changed. It won't be about what I'll do. It will be about what He'll do.
God, the loving Father, will run to us. He will run to you. He will celebrate, all of heaven along with Him, because you've arrived. There will be no hanging back, feeling like you're barely worthy, because He knows better.
You are precious and loved and redeemed. He died for you.
In Jesus' name, Amen.
