It's Beginning to Look a Lot Like Christmas: Events

Even though many of you are far away, I'd like to share some local writing events. I hope all of you are doing well and getting to enjoy the fun of the season!

Last night, four of my local American Christian Fiction Writers chapter, including me, were guests at the McClellanville Arts Council for their Christmas stroll. Two husbands also came along for company and manpower. :)

We had a lovely time, sold a few books, and talked to a lot of lovely people. Then, we ate at the only restaurant in a town of 600 people. Yummy seafood right off the boats.

On December 17, most of the authors of our anthology will be part of a Moveable Feast at Pawley's Island. These luncheons are sponsored by a local bookstore and involve food and talking about books--what could be better? If you're anywhere near the Myrtle Beach area, you might be interested (in ours or some of the other wonderful authors):

(The Holy City Christmas) at Tide to Table, Litchfield Beach

We so enjoyed last year's anthology – "Charleston Light" (2023 Golden Scroll for Novella of the Year) – by the talented South Carolina Lowcountry Chapter of the American Christian Fiction Writers, that we're excited to hear about their new inspirational novellas: "Dock Street Miracle" by Laurie Larsen; "The Little Things" by Robin Stearns Lee; "A South of Broad Christmas" by Christina Sinisi; "Sunrise Shells and Christmas Bells" by Melissa Henderson; "Nine O’Clock, December" by Jody Stallings; "It Had To Be You" by Annette Wiley; "Beauty for Ashes" by Dianne Miley; and "It Happened One Christmas" by Larry and Margaret McNab Gale. Each story features an iconic Charleston location (e.g., Dock Street Theater, historic Charleston City Market, the Little Pink House on Tradd Street, First Scots Presbyterian Church, Citadel Square Church, etc.), along with a charming line drawing by one of the chapter members. Proceeds from this Christmas-themed collection will benefit RISE, a nonprofit designed to help the men of Orangeburg County break the cycle of poverty, homelessness and addiction. (Tide to Table is in the old Ocean One location.)

$35

And closer to home, tomorrow (for me, as I write,) is Summerville, South Carolina's Christmas Parade on December 8. Here's more information as provided by my local bookstore, Main Street Reads in Summerville. Plus, there's information about other bookish events--enjoy!

Finally, here's another picture from last night--a grown man dressed as Elf on the Shelf! Sometimes, people drive us crazy and sometimes they charm us--hey, they even had artificial snow last night!

Readers, what events are going on around where you live? Happy Advent!

Saturday was ACFW-Charlotte's 1st Annual Christmas Party! However, I missed the Locust Christmas Parade which was the same time. Shucks. So many fun events that we can't be everywhere! This Saturday is my grandson Jax's birthday party with hopefully a campfire if the weather permits. He'll be 4 years old! Next week, I'll be at the Movable Feast on Pawley's Island SC on Tuesday, at Jax's Sunday School Christmas program in Concord NC on Wednesday, and at Jax's Preschool Christmas program in Locust NC on Thursday. Tis the season!

We have an award winning Lights at the Zoo. I am not sure what all else is happening around town, but there always seems to be something happening. Have a wonderful week. Stay safe. God bless you.
